I have enjoyed the exercises and find myself trying to incorporate small pieces where I can throughout my day, not just when I am actively doing them.  I am able to now visualize my curvy spine and better understand why things feel the way they do. Week 1 down... excited for what is to come!  I hope to continue learning about ways to strengthen my spine that I can incorporate into my daily life in hopes to slow any potential progression.  I like to focus on the things within my control, and this program helps me to do that! First, I am so very thankful that you have provided this 8 week study to us and so very thankful I was one of the many to do these 8 weeks with you!   Since I only learned that I have scoliosis in 2020,  I am so dedicated to learning all about scoliosis and how to have an active and healthy life with scoliosis as well as to be pain free as possible.

The breathing sessions are my favorite, as I feel so much better and pain free.

 I will definitely incorporate some of these sessions in my everyday life from now on.  :)

I am doing this to improve my day to day life and also for my future, im young but i still have so discomfort once in a while and i really hope that with this exercises will allowed me to gain strength and flexiblity.  Its been already an improvement to workout 5 days in a roll, and even if i feel a little of discomfort after then it turns a relaxed feeling. I know it’s because it’s allowing my spine to really move in a new way. Thank you so much for this.

Wow - cannot believe we are half way through this program.

I like learning about the breathing, as that has helped me immensely to open up my ribs.  Will definitely incorporate thinking of how I breathe every day.  Also, thanks Karena for sharing tidbits on how to stand while taking dishes out  from dishwasher, picking up things from the floor.

Finally, I am liking the new exercises that we do every week, again, which I will incorporate in my every day life.

I really like the exercises where I'm wedged - as soon as I like down, my left hip/SI "pops" into place (not sure if the level of mobility here is good or bad! LOL).
I find it interesting how some exercises that don't resonate with me as much seem to be "the thing" for others. I am committed to keep trying new ones and building a repertoire of the ones that work for me.

So many things thus far, here's a few that are resonating: 1. the accountability.  I am committed to the program and know I have to get in my 5 days, regardless of how I am feeling.  Some days are harder, BUT I always feel better after completing the exercises.  Want to find ways to incorporate this once the 8 weeks are over as this must be a lifelong journey. 2. Elongation throughout the day.  Even if just for 30 seconds here and there I find myself aware and thinking about elongating.  3. Wow - I never realized how much I bend down! I am thankful to have the ability to squat so try to do that as much as possible.  If not squatting,  the tips you taught were extremely helpful.  I don't always remember, but I am aware halfway through bending over that "Darn, I shouldn't be doing this!" Working on building those habits!  Thank you, Karena and Nisreen, and Debbie, for everything!

Karena is the founder of Scolio-Pilates, a groundbreaking approach to scoliosis management through three-dimensional exercise. With over two decades of experience, she has authored Scolio-Pilates and worked extensively to integrate movement-based solutions into scoliosis care.

Her work has brought Scolio-Pilates into medical settings, including Dayton Children’s Hospital, where it is part of the treatment plan for eligible patients. Karena’s mission is to expand access to scoliosis-specific exercise, ensuring that movement is recognized as an essential part of scoliosis care.
